Short Story -Smoke Signal

I came across this story in our weekly Monday Coffee mails and I found it to be really meaningful. So sharing it here 🙂

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly to God to come rescue him, every day he scanned the horizon for help, but there was nothing.

Eventually, he managed to build a small hut for himself out of driftwood to protect him and a few of his belongings. But one day, he returned home from his scavenging for food to find that his hut was in flames, the smoke billowing up to the sky.

The worst had happened, everything he had was lost. He was filled with grief and anger. “God, how could you do this to me!”, he cried. Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island. It had come to rescue him.

“How did you know I was here?”, he asked his rescuers wearily. “We saw your smoke signal”, they replied.
It’s easy to get discouraged when things aren’t working out in our lives. But we shouldn’t lose heart because God is working out our lives, even in the midst of all the pain and suffering.

So, remember next time your little hut is burning to the ground, it’s God way of summoning the good to you.:) 🙂
